Pocket-Sized clot check could make blood thinner safer
NCT ID NCT07012291
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests a small, battery-powered device called ClotChek™ that measures how fast a patient's blood clots using a fresh drop of blood. Researchers want to see if it can tell the difference between people on common blood thinners (rivaroxaban or apixaban) and those not on any. About 150 adults aged 18 to 80 will take part, and the goal is to make monitoring blood thinners quicker and easier at the bedside.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Perosphere ClotChek™ coagulometer (device)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this device could give doctors a fast, bedside way to check blood-thinner levels, helping to reduce bleeding or clotting risks.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early performance study with only 150 participants, so the device may not be accurate enough for all patients or settings.
