Could a quicker, gentler blood thinner regimen after heart procedure beat standard care?

NCT ID NCT07575867

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026

Summary

This study looks at people with an irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) who get a procedure to close a part of the heart called the left atrial appendage to lower stroke risk. Instead of taking a standard blood thinner long-term, participants will take a lower dose of the blood thinner apixaban for just 3 months, then stop all blood thinners. The goal is to see if this approach reduces serious bleeding and other complications compared to standard long-term therapy.
