Cash for TB checks: new study aims to close diagnosis gap in rural tanzania

NCT ID NCT06971952

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether giving small cash payments can encourage more people in rural Tanzania to get screened for tuberculosis (TB). It will enroll 360 people with TB and their household contacts, comparing standard care to care plus a cash incentive. The study also measures how malnutrition affects the risk of developing active TB. The goal is to find practical ways to improve TB detection and prevention in high-burden communities.
