Robot pancreas put to the test in diabetes trial

NCT ID NCT02994277

Summary

This small pilot study tested two different computer algorithms designed to automatically adjust insulin delivery for people with type 1 diabetes. Five adults who already used insulin pumps wore experimental closed-loop systems that continuously monitored blood sugar and calculated insulin doses. Researchers wanted to see if these automated systems could maintain safe blood sugar levels for extended periods without constant manual adjustments.
