Artificial pancreas trial aims to simplify diabetes management

NCT ID NCT06579404

First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether a fully closed-loop insulin pump (an 'artificial pancreas') can better control blood sugar than standard insulin therapy in adults with type 2 diabetes who already use insulin. About 224 participants will use either the automated system or their usual insulin with a continuous glucose monitor for 26 weeks. The goal is to see if the automated system improves HbA1c levels and reduces time spent with high or low blood sugar.
