Brain zap video game: could it sharpen your mind?

NCT ID NCT05907343

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a brain-computer interface (BCI) that reads your brain waves while you play a video game can deliver targeted magnetic stimulation to improve focus and thinking. Researchers will enroll 180 adults, including those with mild cognitive impairment, to compare real stimulation against a sham version. The goal is to see if this closed-loop system can restore cognitive control better than standard stimulation.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a non-invasive way to boost cognitive function in people with mild cognitive impairment.
