New blood-sampling device could cut transfusions in ICU patients
NCT ID NCT06478160
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether using a closed-blood sampling device (CBSD) instead of the usual method reduces the amount of blood taken for lab tests in critically ill adults. The goal is to see if this leads to fewer red blood cell transfusions and fewer complications from arterial catheters. About 216 ICU patients will take part, and the study will follow them for up to 21 days.
