Scientists probe why elderly hearts resist common blood thinner

NCT ID NCT04990596

Summary

This study aimed to understand why the blood-thinning drug clopidogrel is less effective for preventing heart attacks and strokes in many people over 70. Researchers observed 37 hospitalized patients aged 50-100 who were already taking the drug. They measured drug levels in the blood and tested how well the drug was working on platelets to see how age affects the body's processing of the medication.
