Could a common blood thinner stop hidden brain damage?

NCT ID NCT04698031

Summary

This study is testing if the medication clopidogrel is better than aspirin at preventing new 'silent' brain infarctions (silent strokes) in people who have recently had a stroke or mini-stroke (TIA). Silent strokes cause brain damage seen on scans but don't cause obvious symptoms, and they increase the risk of future major strokes and memory problems. Researchers are comparing the two standard medications over two years to see which one better prevents these hidden lesions.
