Doctors test Clip-and-Coil trick to stop deadly bleeding

NCT ID NCT07263503

Summary

This study tested a new technique to make a common treatment for dangerous, swollen stomach veins safer. In 31 patients with liver disease and large blood vessel connections, doctors first placed a small metal clip before inserting coils to block the vein. The goal was to prevent the coils from slipping into the wrong blood vessel, which can be a serious complication.
