Doctors to prescribe clean needles in bid to stop HIV spike

NCT ID NCT07073924

Summary

This study aims to develop and test a practical plan to help outpatient clinics provide two key services to people who inject drugs: clean injection equipment and daily medication to prevent HIV (PrEP). Researchers will work with clinics, staff, and people with lived experience to create the plan, then pilot it at four Pennsylvania clinics. The goal is to see if this approach helps clinics adopt these services and reduces hospitalizations for infections and new HIV cases.
