Heart surgery infection shield: simpler antibiotic tested

NCT ID NCT07267013

Summary

This study is testing if the antibiotic clindamycin can safely and effectively prevent surgical site infections during major heart surgery that uses a heart-lung machine. It focuses on patients who are allergic to the standard antibiotics used for this purpose. Researchers will measure drug levels in the blood during surgery to ensure it stays high enough to fight bacteria.
