Antibiotic trial aims to spare patients from repeat surgery for serious implant infections

NCT ID NCT07335627

Summary

This study is testing if the antibiotic clindamycin works as well as other standard treatments for serious infections around artificial joints (like hips or knees) caused by Streptococcus bacteria. It will involve about 260 adults who have had this type of infection. Researchers will compare success rates, looking at whether patients stay infection-free and avoid repeat surgery or antibiotics for a year after treatment ends.
