Could a simple diet change prevent dangerous anesthesia complications?

NCT ID NCT06654219

Summary

This study is testing if switching to a clear liquid diet for 24 hours before a medical procedure can reduce stomach contents in patients taking GLP-1 medications (like Ozempic or Wegovy). The goal is to prevent a dangerous complication called pulmonary aspiration, where stomach contents enter the lungs during anesthesia. Researchers will measure stomach contents, track patient comfort, and see if this diet change leads to safer anesthesia choices.
