Could a simple diet change make anesthesia safer for millions on popular Weight-Loss drugs?
NCT ID NCT06654219
Summary
This study is looking at whether switching to a clear liquid diet for 24 hours before an upper endoscopy procedure can reduce the amount of stomach contents in patients taking GLP-1 receptor agonist drugs (like Ozempic or Wegovy). Researchers want to see if this diet lowers the risk of stomach contents accidentally entering the lungs during anesthesia. They will also check if the longer fasting causes more thirst, hunger, or anxiety for the patients.
