First seen Jan 20, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a protein called CC16 in the blood can help doctors tell the difference between two types of lung fluid buildup: one caused by heart problems and another caused by lung injury. Researchers measured CC16 levels in 100 adults in the ICU who needed a breathing tube. The goal was to see if this test could lead to faster, more accurate diagnosis and treatment.
