New drug cocktail aims to halt leukemia in older patients

NCT ID NCT01515527

First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tests whether a combination of three chemotherapy drugs (cladribine, low-dose cytarabine, and decitabine) can help control acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) in patients aged 60 and older. Participants receive the drugs in cycles, and researchers track how long the disease stays under control. The goal is to improve outcomes without a cure, as ongoing management is expected.
