Cheaper psoriasis drug on the horizon? new biosimilar enters human trials
NCT ID NCT07258745
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This Phase 1 trial tests a new biosimilar called CKD-704, which is designed to be a more affordable copy of the psoriasis drug Skyrizi (risankizumab). The study involves 213 healthy adults who will receive a single dose of either CKD-704, the EU-approved Skyrizi, or the US-licensed Skyrizi. Researchers will compare how the body processes each drug and check for any safety issues.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
CKD-704 (a biosimilar of risankizumab, the active ingredient in Skyrizi)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a more affordable treatment option for psoriasis and other inflammatory conditions.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 1 trial in healthy volunteers, not patients. It only tests short-term safety and drug levels, not whether the biosimilar actually works for psoriasis. Biosimilars can sometimes differ in effectiveness or side effects.
Conditions
The condition(s) this trial relates to.
As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
