Hospital drug trial aims to stop common kidney damage

Summary
This study is testing if an existing drug called cilastatin can prevent sudden kidney injury in hospitalized adults. About 700 patients receiving medications known to sometimes harm the kidneys will receive either cilastatin or a placebo. The goal is to see if the drug can safely reduce the number of patients who develop this serious complication.
