First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding a special PET scan (FAZA-PET) to standard imaging can improve the effectiveness of proton therapy for chordoma, a rare bone tumor. The goal was to better target radiation-resistant cells and improve local tumor control. 64 adults with chordoma of the skull base, spine, or sacrum participated. The approach aims to reduce the chance of the tumor coming back after treatment.
