Pesticide found in thyroid glands of caribbean patients

NCT ID NCT07611994

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will measure how much of the pesticide chlordecone is stored in the thyroid and nearby fat tissue of 69 adults having thyroid surgery in Guadeloupe. Researchers will also look at blood levels and ask about diet and job history to see what factors affect accumulation. The goal is to better understand how this endocrine-disrupting chemical builds up in the body.
