This study aimed to test a new gel made from chitosan (a substance from shellfish) as packing material in ear surgery to repair a hole in the eardrum. The gel was hoped to improve healing and reduce inflammation compared to standard foam. However, the study was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled, so no results are available.
