Experimental vaccine trial aims to train immune system to fight childhood brain cancer

NCT ID NCT01795313

Summary

This early-stage study tested whether a personalized vaccine-like treatment could safely trigger immune responses against recurrent ependymoma brain tumors in children. The treatment combined tumor-specific protein fragments with an immune-boosting cream. The trial enrolled 23 children and young adults whose tumors had returned after standard treatments, but was terminated before completion.
