First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 30, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This small pilot study tests whether having a community health worker help families address social challenges (like food or housing issues) for three months before starting a group weight management program can improve participation and outcomes for children ages 8-12 with overweight or mild obesity. About 120 families with at least one major social risk factor will take part. The study focuses on feasibility, satisfaction, and changes in child BMI and thinking skills.
