Scientists probe hidden world of Child's cough

NCT ID NCT07255430

Summary

This study aims to understand the complex relationship between the germs and viruses in the airways, the body's immune response, and the health of young children with a persistent wet cough called Protracted Bacterial Bronchitis (PBB). Researchers will follow about 160 children under 5 years old for one year, collecting throat swabs during regular check-ups and when their cough gets worse. The goal is to learn how standard antibiotic treatment interacts with these factors to help develop better future diagnostics and treatments.
