Scientists probe Kids' coughs to unlock bronchitis secrets
NCT ID NCT07255430
Summary
This study aims to understand what causes a persistent wet cough in young children, known as protracted bacterial bronchitis. Researchers will collect throat swabs from up to 160 children under 5 over one year to analyze the community of germs and viruses in their airways and how it relates to their immune response. The goal is to learn how the disease develops and how standard antibiotic treatment works, which may help create better future treatments.
