New combo therapy aims to reverse liver damage in diabetics

NCT ID NCT07303803

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding chiglitazar to standard anti-inflammatory and liver-protecting treatments can help people with both fatty liver disease (MASH) and type 2 diabetes. About 300 adults will receive either the combination or a placebo, and doctors will check if liver inflammation resolves without worsening scarring. The goal is to control the disease and prevent progression, not to cure it.
