First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new chickenpox vaccine in 600 healthy toddlers aged 12-15 months. The children receive two doses, and the new vaccine is compared to the current standard, Varivax. The goal is to see if the new vaccine produces a strong immune response and is safe.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Investigational varicella vaccine (VNS Vaccine)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a safe and effective alternative chickenpox vaccine for young children.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 3 trial, but it's still testing a new vaccine. It may not prove to be as effective or safe as the existing vaccine, and results may not apply to all children.
