First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tested whether chewing gum can help people smoke fewer cigarettes or quit entirely. 80 adult smokers in Hong Kong either used gum or tried to quit on their own for one week. Researchers measured how much smoking dropped and checked if participants had truly quit using saliva tests. The goal was to see if gum is a simple, practical aid for cutting back or stopping smoking.
