Tiny tubes, big problem: testing a new way to stop chest drains from clogging

NCT ID NCT06314620

Summary

This study is testing if adding a small dose of a blood-thinning medication (heparin) to the standard saltwater flush helps keep small chest drain tubes from getting blocked. It will involve 40 hospital patients who need a small tube to drain fluid from around their lungs. The goal is to find a better way to maintain these drains so they work properly and patients get the full benefit of the drainage procedure.
