New laser system aims to sharpen vision for nearsighted patients

Summary

This study tested a new laser system called Cheetah to correct nearsightedness (myopia) with or without astigmatism. A total of 286 adults with mild to moderate nearsightedness and up to -1.00 diopter of astigmatism took part. The main goals were to see how well the treatment improved uncorrected vision and whether it maintained the best possible vision with glasses. Results were tracked over 12 months.
