New monitor could free up ICU nurses from constant finger pricks

NCT ID NCT05571397

Summary

This study tested whether using a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) in the intensive care unit (ICU) is practical and helpful. It compared 100 ICU patients using the CGM to 100 past patients who used traditional fingerstick checks. The goal was to see if the CGM improved blood sugar control for patients and changed how nurses spent their time.
