New virus therapy aims to keep bladder cancer from returning
NCT ID NCT06253845
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-stage trial tests a treatment called CG0070, a virus-based therapy given directly into the bladder, after standard surgery for intermediate-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. About 20 participants will receive the treatment to see if it is safe and helps prevent the cancer from coming back. The study focuses on side effects and recurrence rates over 12 to 24 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
CG0070 (a virus-based therapy given directly into the bladder)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a new treatment option that reduces the chance of bladder cancer coming back after surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a very early (Phase 1) and small trial (20 people), so it is mainly checking safety. The treatment may not work well or could cause side effects like bladder irritation.
