Scientists map bacterial battlefield inside CF lungs
NCT ID NCT02128711
Summary
This study aimed to understand how bacteria live and behave in different parts of the lungs of people with late-stage cystic fibrosis (CF). Researchers examined lung tissue removed from 74 adult CF patients during transplant surgery. They mapped where different bacteria were located and what they were doing to learn how the lung environment affects infection, which could help develop new treatments in the future.
