New app aims to boost mental strength in hospitalized teens with cancer

NCT ID NCT07228533

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 25, 2026

Summary

This study will test a new mobile app called CesiKids, designed by nurses, recovered teens, and parents, to help adolescents aged 12-18 with cancer build psychological resilience while in the hospital. The app uses AI to adapt to each teen's needs and includes activities to strengthen coping skills. Thirty-six teens will be randomly assigned to use the app for four weeks or receive standard care, and researchers will measure changes in resilience and coping at several points. This is an early-stage trial to see if the approach is helpful and feasible.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new, scalable way to help hospitalized teens with cancer feel stronger emotionally and cope better during treatment.

What could go wrong

This is a very small early trial (36 participants) testing a new app, so results may not apply to all teens. The program is still being developed and may not show clear benefits.
