Yale tests new device for safer, faster abortion procedures

NCT ID NCT07200115

Summary

This study aims to find out if a newer balloon catheter device works better than the standard sponge-like dilators to gently open the cervix overnight before a second-trimester abortion procedure. Researchers at Yale University will compare the two methods in 50 participants to see which one results in better cervical opening and potentially a quicker, easier procedure the next day. The goal is to improve patient comfort and safety during this type of care.
