New study aims to cut opioid use after surgery

NCT ID NCT06505187

Summary

This study is testing whether a combination of celecoxib (a non-opioid anti-inflammatory) and Tylenol can effectively manage pain after parotid gland surgery, potentially reducing the need for opioid painkillers. Researchers will compare this approach to a placebo in 84 adults undergoing this specific surgery. Participants will track their pain and medication use for 7 days after their operation to see if the non-opioid option works well enough to limit opioid prescriptions.
