New PET probe could sharpen lung cancer detection

NCT ID NCT07487883

First seen Mar 24, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study is testing a new type of PET scan that uses a special probe (68Ga-TOI-1) to target a protein called CDH3, which is only found on cancer cells. The goal is to see if this scan can more accurately detect and stage lung cancer compared to the standard PET scan. About 80 adults with suspected or confirmed lung cancer will receive both scans, and the results will be compared to tissue samples or other imaging. If successful, this could lead to more precise diagnosis and treatment planning.
