App-Based CBT shows promise for functional tremor
NCT ID NCT06022393
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a 4-week app-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) program in 20 people with functional tremor. Participants used the app to practice reframing upsetting thoughts and were compared to a group that simply reflected on their day. The goal was to see if the CBT app could improve symptoms and quality of life. The study is complete, but results are not yet published.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) app-based training
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple app-based therapy to help people with functional tremor feel better and move more easily.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early study with only 20 people and no control group. The results may not apply to everyone, and the app might not work for all types of tremor.
