Do surface vein clots worsen catheter infections? new study aims to find out

NCT ID NCT07388381

Summary

This study aims to understand if a blood clot in a surface vein (superficial vein thrombosis) makes a catheter-related bloodstream infection worse. Researchers will observe 150 hospitalized adults with these infections to see if the clot leads to more complications like the infection returning or spreading. The goal is to help doctors decide if finding this type of clot should change how they treat the infection.
