New flushing solutions aim to keep catheters clear and patients healthier

NCT ID NCT05775614

Summary

This study is testing whether two specific flushing solutions (Uro-Tainer® Polihexanide and Uro-Tainer® with citric acid) are better than the standard saline rinse at preventing blockages in permanent catheters. Researchers will enroll 70 adults who use a permanent catheter and have experienced blockages before. The goal is to see if these solutions lead to fewer emergency catheter changes, fewer infections, and a better quality of life.
