New lens offers hope for clearer vision in cataract patients with keratoconus

NCT ID NCT07338708

First seen Jan 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a special lens, called the Vivity Extended Depth of Focus lens, can improve vision in adults who have both cataracts and early-stage keratoconus (a condition that thins and bulges the cornea). Ten people received the lens in both eyes during standard cataract surgery. The main goal was to see if the lens could give good distance vision (20/25 or better) three months after surgery, while also checking for improvements in intermediate and near vision, contrast sensitivity, and overall satisfaction.
