Cat bite cure? study questions need for antibiotics

NCT ID NCT05846399

Summary

This study aims to find out if the standard 5-day antibiotic course is necessary to prevent infections from cat bites to the hand or forearm. Researchers are comparing a 5-day antibiotic course, a 1-day course, and a placebo (a pill with no medicine) in adults who seek care within 24 hours of a bite. The goal is to see if shorter treatment or even no antibiotics works just as well to prevent infection, which could help reduce unnecessary medication use.
