First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving fewer antibiotics after appendix removal is safe and works well. 268 adults who had surgery for simple or complicated appendicitis were followed for at least 30 days. The goal was to see if a short course of antibiotics could reduce side effects and complications compared to a longer course, without increasing the risk of infection.
