Wrist vs groin: race to find safer stroke prevention method

NCT ID NCT05416853

Summary

This large study compares two ways to perform carotid artery stenting, a procedure to open narrowed neck arteries and prevent strokes. Researchers are testing whether accessing the artery through the wrist is as safe and effective as the traditional groin approach. The trial involves 3,000 adults with significant carotid artery narrowing, measuring serious complications like stroke, heart attack, or death within 30 days after the procedure.
