Blood test may replace scalpel for heart tumor diagnosis
NCT ID NCT07235865
First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study explores whether a blood test (liquid biopsy) can accurately diagnose heart masses, distinguishing benign from malignant tumors without invasive tissue sampling. Researchers will collect blood from 26 participants aged 12 and older with known or suspected cardiac masses, and compare results with standard tissue biopsies. If successful, this approach could reduce the need for risky surgical biopsies and enable earlier, safer diagnosis.
