New training aims to ease the heavy load on cancer caregivers

NCT ID NCT05542706

Summary

This study is testing if special training for family caregivers helps them and the patient after major head and neck cancer surgery. While the patient is in the hospital, nurses and therapists will train the caregiver on how to help with breathing, eating, and communication changes at home. Researchers want to see if this training reduces caregiver stress, improves the patient's quality of life, and helps avoid return trips to the hospital.
