Heart doc sedation: faster treatment for irregular heartbeat?

NCT ID NCT07571447

First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a cardiologist can safely give a mild sedative (midazolam) for a heart ultrasound and electric shock treatment, instead of needing a separate anesthesiologist. The goal is to reduce delays and shorten hospital stays for people with atrial fibrillation or flutter. About 220 adults in Denmark will take part, and researchers will compare the new approach to standard care.
