New MRI technique could make heart ablation safer and more precise

NCT ID NCT03031587

First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested a new MRI method that measures temperature inside the heart in real time during a procedure called radiofrequency ablation, which is used to treat irregular heartbeats. The goal was to see if the technique works well in real patients, including those with irregular heart rhythms or larger body sizes. 61 adults and teens aged 15 and older took part. The results will help improve future treatments by making ablation more accurate and reducing the risk of damaging healthy tissue.
