New hope for tough prostate cancers: old drug targets genetic weakness

NCT ID NCT03652493

Summary

This study tested whether the chemotherapy drug carboplatin could help control advanced prostate cancer that had spread and stopped responding to standard hormone treatments. It focused on a small group of 16 men whose tumors had specific genetic changes that might make them more sensitive to this type of drug. Researchers measured whether the treatment shrank tumors and lowered PSA blood levels in these patients.
